Google I/O connects developers worldwide for thoughtful discussions, insights from Google experts and a first look at the latest product launches. The in-person conference hosted over 5,000 attendees, and the broadcast has nearly 2 million views.

As design lead, I was brought in to create the event’s visual identity and oversee design across all motion, graphic and brand applications. I guided a team of designers and motion artists and together we created an identity that flexed into spatial design, signage, broadcast assets and digital experiences.

The 2024 event unveiled some of Google’s latest generative AI breakthroughs, so we wanted the branding to feel innovative, friendly and optimistic.

The four Google brand colors were blended into gradients to generate new hues that felt fresh yet familiar. The I/O logo was outputted in many different forms. A black and white grid shape-shifted and filled in with bright optmistic colors.

We made it unmistakably Google by redrawing classic Google icons and easter eggs in a new style.

Thank you to the super incredible team. Dan Chandler for the creative vision. Designers Alex Kirsch, Alli Berk, Anmol Govinda, Caroline Hunter, Crystal Zapata, Jeremiah Chiu, Mathilde Vallée, Ramzy Masri, spatial lead Adi Goodrich and Jess Marak for the opportunity. Animators Chris Anderson, Gung Kai Koo, Mathijs Luijten, Mike Russo and Nicolo Bianchino. Producers Chris Hsu, Salam Darwaza and countless other partners.

Also a big thank you to all the producers, designers and animators who helped create the keynote presentations.
